Back in March Storychasers announced a contest open to anyone who has participated in a Celebrate Oklahoma Voices, Celebrate Kansas Voices, or Celebrate Texas Voices digital storytelling workshop in the past. To be eligible for the drawing for a new iPad3 and iRig microphone, Storychaser workshop participants were asked to share the link to a video they created and shared online along with a “backstory” paragraph telling about the video. We received 15 submissions, and randomly selected Sabrina Johnson from Tipton Public Schools in Oklahoma as our winner. Sabrina interviewed 94 year old Mattie Mae Huff in May of 2010 for her COV video. Watch “Mattie Mae Huff: Tillman County Treasure” and read more about the interview on the blog post submitted by Sabrina for our contest.
Congratulations Sabrina Johnson!
In the weeks ahead we’ll continue to feature different videos and “backstories” submitted by other COV, CKV, and CTV participants. The Storychasers board is meeting later this month to finalize an “iPad Digital Storytelling and Oral History” workshop curriculum, which we plan to start offering this fall. We also will be scheduling four more Storychaser workshops using our past curriculum and “digital backpacks” of equipment. Multiple scholarships, both partial and full, will be available for some of these workshops. If you’re interested in hosting a Storychaser workshop for your school, educational organization or community group, please contact us. Stay tuned for more Storychasing opportunities in the weeks and months ahead!
